New Pleasure Unit Playlist

Pleasure Unit now has a playlist set up at Webjay, the playlist sharing community recently featured at Wired. If you feel so inclined, you can even leave comments.

It was recently announced that C|Net will be taking over the rights for The move affects Pleasure Unit directly, as we have been hosting a few downloads there for several years now.

The good news is, C|Net has vowed to replace the old service with a new and improved version that is based on the early ideals of the site, promising "to do for musicians what it did for software developers when it launched nearly 10 years ago: give independent artists an affordable way to build a market for their work."

Look for Pleasure Unit material to end up at the new site shortly after it launches.

More Downloads Available

Two tracks from each of the last three Pleasure Unit releases have been added to the Albums page for download.

The newly added tracks include "A Feel Good Translation," from the Automaton EP; "Vendetta," from Breadwinner Father, Homemaker Mother; and "The Vice," from the instrumental LP Prometheus, among others.

Kid Antrim

Pleasure Unit will be appearing on a Kid Antrim Music compilation in the near future. As stated on Kid Antrim Music's Compilations page, "Father" (from the album "Most of the Sudden") is the track they will be featuring. Stay tuned for more on this future release.

Black Out

Silence Falls

Pleasure Unit's music can be found, once again, on 3rd Floor Productions' "Amanda Hades" series. Tracks from "Prometheus," including "Cell," "Interlude A," and "The Vice," are featured throughout the new episode, which is titled "Silence Falls."

Also, new MP3 mixes by Kevin Skaggs will be posted on the 'Automaton' album.

Squeeze the Lemon

The website has been updated. You can now click on album covers in the Albums section to read the band's thoughts on each particular record.

Brian is currently working on various projects. He plans to release an album called "Squeeze the Lemon," by mid-October. Many of the songs are already written. He also has begun a new production company to be announced soon. Pleasure Unit will stay hard at work doing what they do best, music.

Getting Closer

Pleasure Unit held an all-night recording session last night, and finished several new tracks for the upcoming album. These include the opening track, "This is How it Begins," "Coldhearted Woman," "Forecast," "Marionette," and "Thrown So Low."

Some additional mixing was done on other tracks, and it is looking like the band is going to have a lot of good material to choose from when picking the final tracklisting of "Breadwinner Father, Homemaker Mother."

Album Cover Unveiled

Pleasure Unit is happy to unveil the album cover design for their upcoming release, "Breadwinner Father, Homemaker Mother." The cover was designed by William Boyd, a young, talented Seattle artist. When describing his approach in creating the album cover, William commented, "I simply wanted to show in light and colour the contrast and quality of the album title." A Busy Month

Pleasure Unit was in the studio again on Monday night. They laid down several acoustic tracks and a track titled "Gefhl" that features Bernie doing solo guitar work.

In other news, Kevin Skaggs is currently working on remixing several if not all of the tracks from the recently completed "Prometheus" record. He'll most likely be doing the cover art for BFHM too. This should be a busy month for Pleasure Unit, so keep your eyes peeled for more news.

Double Digits

Pleasure Unit was in the studio last night to work on BFHM. A track titled "Way Out West" was completed, and vocals were added to another titled "Bereavement." So far there are 10 songs in all that have either been started or completed. The band is excited about this album. Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks.

"Prometheus" was completed on Friday the 14th. The soundtrack's 10th track, titled "Whole," which was mixed by Kevin Skaggs, will be available as an audio file soon, with more tracks to follow.

Looking Ahead

The new soundtrack, "Prometheus," is completely finished except for the last track, "Beyond Colours." As for BFHM, recording and mixing for the album is in progress, with one track already completed. When BFHM is finished, Brian says he will take a long vacation and pursue: finishing a musical, a children's album, and possibly recording a set of his modern guitar compositions.
